Summer is Speeding Along

From June 15-30 I participated in #1000wordsofsummer and I did it.  I wrote over 15,000 new words in my book.  I am now on Chapter 18 and am right about to the halfway point of the book. If I can keep up practice, I can finish my rough draft before winter.  #1000wordsofsummer was created by writer Jami Attenberg you can click on her link to see her published works and what she has coming out soon!

Im very glad I participated in the challenge it made a real difference and moved my work forward. Now since July began I've only written 1200 words and it's the 9th.  This I blame on being on vacation.  😁

Our vacation was a long drive 600 mile drive to visit family.  The highlights of the trip were hiking around a lake to see a waterfall at Vogel State Park  and getting to be on Lake Chatuge.  We are very lucky in  that we have a family member who has a family member who has a boat.  Above is my first attempt to use the panoramic feature on my phone to capture the setting sun.  I think turned out pretty well.

Three generations of the men of my family and the waterfall.

The Man is sporting his Tindr shirt from Gamestop.  Fun Fact: he doesn't swipe left right or up, he doesn't have Tindr!

It's been wet and warm in Chicagoland so we came home to a garden gone wild- well tomatoes and zucchini gone wild. We should be harvesting in the next couple weeks.  I can't wait for fresh tomatoes!

Updates from the Moving Truck.

I have survived the Great Southern Move of 2012.  In case you were worried, The Man survived as well. Now we are on to new challenges such as:
1. Where to put all The Man's stuff. I vote in the garage. He disagrees.
2. What bit the B Man?  His hand is swollen and itchy.
3. What is a better nickname for Anna?  T-Bone or Trailmix?

The great news is that not only did we all make it down here in one piece, my china set also made it in one piece!

Wait--It gets even better, I'm already up and running with my job.  On the Tastefully Simple front I attended my first meeting as an official member of the Tri State Business Women!  It's a great group, active and involved in the community as well.

On the Virtual Call Center Front our internet and phone were installed on Friday and I've been taking calls and have already racked up over 200 minutes.  (I get paid by the minute).

Yesterday I also found the box containing my favorite cooking pot, I was beginning to think I accidently sold it. Here are some pictures of our adventures over the past week:

Back from Vacation!

Well we got back on Friday from our trip down to the fantastically goregous and very laid back Lake Chatuge area of Northern Georgia/Western No. Carolina.

One highlight of the trip was the amazing Shrimp and Grits I had at The Ridges Resort and other highlights would be the kids playing 24 /7 with their cousins. Bryce jumping off a diving board and swimming sans life jacket, the fantastic cooking of my bro, SIL and her awesome mom.

And the big highlight of the trip my brother adopting his step son. Woo Hoo!  Congrats to the whole gang!

The kids in historic and artsy Berea, KY whilst Tom was on a conference call for work.

I wish this was the view from back yard!

Tom make a new friend.

While we were gone Tom's dad was hospitalized and since we've gotten home, Tom has been at the hospital or talking to his dad or his brothers and other family members non-stop.  He is giving his dad a peptalk right now on doing his breathing treatments and concentrating on getting better and getting out of the hospital.  He is a very good son.

Hopefully when he gets off the phone, he'll enjoy a new recipe I found in Real Simple magazine yesterday. It's Spiced Chicken Salad with Plums and Chickpeas  now the recipe calls for Garam masala.  Garam masala is a seasoning blend typically composed of black pepper, cadamon, cumin, nutmeg, etc.  I didn't have any of that on hand but I though it was the perfect time to pull out my Tastefully Simple's Flavors of India Seasoning and it worked really nicely!.
