#TheSundayPost We Are Halfway There!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.  See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

I am happy to report that our household is half vaccinated. Everyone has had their first short. The Man was able to get the J&J vaccine, so he is now fully vaccinated.  The rest of us got Pfizer so we are going back for that second shot in a few weeks.  Here is the selfie I took instead of taking a picture of my card.

It's been a tough week. The killing of a 20-year-old in Minnesota and the killing of a 13-year old in Chicago, and the killing of a 16-year-old in Maryland --all done by police officers followed by a mass shooting at a Fed-Ex workplace made me sad and angry. As a white lady, who has white kids, I don't carry the worry about the higher likelihood that one of my kids could wind up killed during an encounter with the police. I can only imagine how much more heartbroken and angry I would be.

One thing I can do is give money directly to people who need it. I belong to a group that raises money and gives it directly to BIPOC single moms who have kids with special needs. We share their needs and then give money for food, power bills, and copays direct to those in need.  I'm not saying that for any pat on the back, I'm just sharing something I have found to try and help others. if you follow me on Twitter at @Victoria7401 I post the needs there if you ever want to give!

I also donate time to help local candidates who I believe in when they run for office. If you want to make a change, you don't have to have money, volunteering time is huge.

Tell me, did something good happen in your neck of the woods this week? How are you?

Here is my Christmas Cactus and look---you can see tiny buds!  It's gonna flower!

Congrats on being vaccinated! None of us are yet. It's been hard to find a spot nearby that has the Pfizer shot (our shot of choice), so I guess we keep waiting for the rush to slow down.

We got our first Pfizer s this week too. Now just have to go back for #2. :) I hear you on the shootings- it's outrageous. And yes, if I were a person of color in this country I'd be afraid to let my kids out the door!

Thank you though for sharing about how you're helping others. That's awesome to just help someone directly.

Hope you are well this week and take care!

Yay for getting those vaccines. I wanted Pfizer and was happy we got it. I had no reaction to either shot but my daughter had a bit of sore arms, and aches. I am deeply saddened by all the police killings and mass shootings. It seems to be white men doing the shooting mostly. I lived near Brooklyn Center for about 11 years when I lived in MN so the scenes are of familiar places. I hope for a better week!

Yay for getting your first vaccine! It feels like cause for celebration, doesn't it? And yet the why behind it has been a nightmare in so many ways.

It feels like every time a breaking news story alert comes on my phone it is related to a mass or police shooting. It is so sad and maddening and something has to change. We need to work toward making changes, and the things you are doing are some good suggestions.

I hope you have a great week! Hopefully it will be a good week all around for everyone.

We are vaccinated so that is good. I am disturbed as well by the senseless and horrible shootings.

I hope that you will have a wonderful week ahead.

Wahoo on the vaccine news. That is awesome. The news has been dreadful and all of these mass shooting events. Glad you have found a way to make a difference. If everyone did something in their community think how wonderful the world would be.

Glad you were able to get your vaccine. We got the Moderna and had our second shots last week. So glad that's out of the way.

The news has definitely been so heartbreaking.

I hope you have a great week!

There’s a charity called Give Directly that gives money directly to people in poverty. I think it’s an awesome idea. Congrats on getting vaccinated! I’m getting my second shot on Saturday. I’m excited to go back to normal life. I hope you have a great week!

Yay for getting your 1st vaccine! I'm a bit jealous of all those that get the J&J. One and done sounds great though I'm just so glad to be getting them I'll take what I can get. I got Pfizer too and get my 2nd one this Friday. I had no reaction to the first but am bracing for the 2nd. Weirdly my husband who never ever gets sick got his 1st Moderna today and is feeling like he got hit by a truck tonight. I've heard the strong the immune system the higher potential for a stronger reaction but who knows. Love the sound of the charity and how direct it sounds. I've been avoiding the news but I do like to keep a list of groups that really make a difference that I can support. Have a great week!

It feels so good to have the whole household to be partly or fully vaccinated, doesn’t it? I just got my second shot yesterday. My younger daughter and husband also are fully vaccinated and my older daughter will be tomorrow. Whew! Hope this week is a good one 😊

I'm glad to read you have got the first vaccine shot. Things aren't going very fast here.. so we still have no idea when it's our turn.
Yes.. the news of those killings have been horrible. I don't know whats going on with police in the US. Terrible really!
Have a great week and happy reading.

Glad to hear that you were able to get vaccinated. I am choosing not to at this time. Your Christmas cactus is interesting. I hope it gets lots of flowers. Have a great week!
