Happy Release Day for Too Kölsch For Comfort! The Second Book in the Steamy Marley Creek Romance Series!

My second book is out today! If you like fake dating, couples that get snowed in, or when she can't stand him but he thinks she's the one who got away, check it out!

As you can see I'm still slowly learning how to use Canva! Trying to make posts about my book is harder than writing, revising, and proofreading!

I am thinking of hosting a little book release at my local craft brewery next month. What do you think? Have you gone to many book release or book signing events?

Here is the scoop on Jasper and Zaina's story!

When Jasper makes Zaina a deal she can’t refuse, will she find herself with something more than money?

Zaina Evans told herself this was going to be her year. She’s done looking for a soulmate to share her life. She lives in a great small-town, has a successful business, she’s surrounded by wonderful friends and her mom is just a train ride away. Zaina has everything she needs and wants in life except for a baby. Now all she needs is funding to help pay for artificial insemination.
Jasper Kane is the handsome owner and head brewer of Hop’s Heaven Brewery. He’s only had time to promote his business and date a of string of beautiful women for the last five years. His goal to take his craft brewery nationwide consumes him. Maybe if his brewery had locations across America, his mother would finally take him seriously.
Then a video of Jasper and Zaina goes viral for its feel-good content, and a local TV show wants to do a live remote, but only if Zaina’s there too. This gives Jasper a fantastically devious idea. He can get loads of free publicity and tons of followers if Zaina agrees to fake date him to make social media content. But when they get stuck at the brewery during an ice storm, things stop being fake fast. Will they be able to get past their preconceived notions of the perfect life to find the love right in front of them?

I Don't Even Like Office Romance Stories, And Yet

I was hooked within the first five pages. I loved this story of Vicky the dog whisperer with  traumatic past and Henry the megarich developer with a heart and a terrible mom.  If you enjoy contemporary romance that takes place in a work environment, I think you'll likely enjoy this book.

I don't like office settings at all and this one was a 5 star read to me! Let me give you the top 5 reasons why I I liked this romance--in no particular order.

1. Annika Martin brings plenty of heat while leaving the physical bodies of the MC vague. The main characters see each other as beautiful and we get general appearance comments but we don't hear details about their personal appearances ie- her flat stomach, his washboard abs, etc. This was nice, I could imagine Vicky and Henry as 'normal' humans.

2. Vicky doesn't have a 'sassy' best friend.

3. Henry doesn't have a scheming ex.

4. There is a cute dog but he doesn't take over the story.

5. There is a small breakup and a big break up.

There is a also interesting craft talk and not really any fashion talk which works for me. Close to the end there is an ancedote which turns into book two in this series, it was fun for me as the reader to see that short few sentences and know that it was going to come around and be a whole story.  Maybe I'll continue the series!

5 stars for this well written, all the right tropes for me contemporary romance!

Can Netflix Make This Book into A Movie? #RomanceReview #HowToCatchaQueen 4.5 Stars

I decided to read this book because I enjoyed Alyssa Cole's mystery thriller When No One is Watching. As you can probably tell from the cover this book is a romance.  This is the first book in a new series by Alyssa Cole called Runaway Royals.

While this book is contemporary, the book takes place in a country where there is an absolute monarchy, so you have some elements that are usually found in a Historical Romance.  The couple in the book Shanti and Sanyu are in an arranged marriage that includes a four-month trial.  King Sanyu is contending with grief over the loss of his father as well as crippling anxiety.  Shanti has focused her whole life on becoming a Queen in order to live a life of service and King Sanyu has spent his whole life trying to avoid the crown.

This book is a slow burn, but also has the added tension of the marriage trial period.  In addition to reading to find out how and when they will fall in love and make a commitment, we also read to see how this couple will be able to pull the Kingdom out of its downward spiral and bring it into the global community.  I enjoyed the political discussions in the book as well as learning about the mythology of the Kingdom.  Alyssa Cole does an excellent job of discussing mental health as we see Shanti teach Sanyu coping mechanisms, and also as King Sanyu realizes there is no shame in therapy.

Throughout the book Alyssa Cole puts in some laugh-out-loud lines which are so fun to read, and also there are some quiet lines that really resonate with the reader, such as the one below:

This is a smart romance and interwoven with romance and great sex, we see characters learning their worth and respecting the worth of others.   4.5 stars!

If you read this book, let me know what you think!

Today is National Carrot Cake Day- I like to eat Carrot Cake, but I can't say I've ever made it!  If you'd like to give it a go today here is a recipe: Carrot Cake Recipe With Video
